During the 2015 Convention and Trade Show, President & CEO Lance Trenary presented the inaugural winner of the prestigious Ted Fowler Pursuit of Restaurant Excellence Award. The award recognizes one company or franchise operator each year who most embodies the performance, achievement, and characteristics of Ted Fowler. Mr. Fowler retired as President & CEO of Golden Corral at the end of 2014, after 37 years of service to the company. The award recipient is determined based on criteria associated with operational excellence in reflection of Mr. Fowler’s relentless pursuit of our mission of “making pleasurable dining affordable.”


General Manager Tom Taylor has an incredible track record for sales performance.   After being open only one year, his Hanover, MD, restaurant achieved the second highest sales volume in the system. Over the next eight years, he continued to be ranked in the top three for sales volume in a GC-11M restaurant, including being the highest volume restaurant in 2012 and 2013. Tom is an outstanding ambassador for the Golden Corral brand. He and his team served an average of over 600,000 guests per 

year over the last three years. He averaged over 90% on PDE results every year for the past six years. This high level of execution and consistency is thanks to his high retention of his management team and Co-workers.

Tom sets a high standard for consistency of excellence unsurpassed in Golden Corral, as evidenced by his record in the Golden Circle of Excellence. Over the last seven years, he finished in the Elite Twenty, achieving twelfth place once, third place twice, and second place twice, and was honored as the franchise restaurant-of-the-year two years in a row in 2012 and 2013.
